For Truvelle’s 2018 season, the made-to-order bridal brand has personalized their wedding dress experience even further by bringing brides along on their creative process. With four seasons of innovative design under their belt, Gaby and her team took a step back to refine and reflect on past collections, spending a considerable amount of time with women of all sizes and style preferences to develop patterns and design cuts that brides will look and feel incredible in. The end result boasts a dreamy ensemble of delicate laces and a subtle colour palette that encourages individuality to shine.
A Collection Named After Inspirational Women in the Team
This season was inspired by and named after the women who keep Truvelle running on a day-to-day basis. Samantha is our Sales Manager and assisted design on this collection. Alix helped open our Vancouver Flagship. Britt was the first member on our Marketing team. Rebecca helps manage Quality Control. Andrianna is our Quality Control & Studio Manager. Julie has moved from both our Production and Quality Control departments into helming Truvelle’s content. Kim is our Production Manager and has turned into Truvelle’s right hand woman. Mary is OG Truvelle — she was the very first person to sew for Truvelle and still produces half of our gowns. All of these women are strong, inspirational, and individuals — words I know embody the Truvelle bride.
Inspiration and Thoughts
From the designer, Gaby: We at Truvelle love colour, and though we’ve injected small bursts through our gold-foiled starburst lace & macadamia tulle, we’ve kept the collection to shades of white. We think there’s something to be said about blank canvases, and how it lets that one special addition shine. We were also heavily inspired by mesh, and how it functions as support but also melts into the skin for a barely-there effect.
Breakthroughs and New Ideas
This season, we really paid attention to what our brides responded to in past collections and did our best to predict what they are seeking in upcoming designs. The 2018 Collection features the most diverse bodice styles we’ve ever released in a single collection, catering to a variety of brides. We’ve introduced new, statement laces and a nude mesh throughout that serves as support with a barely there effect. Our skirts have evolved, as well. We’ve fallen in love with dramatic trains, and it’s translated into this collection with Mary, Andrianna, Kim, and Rebecca all featuring 80 inch trains. Tulle was introduced in light layers to provide a fuller skirt option.
Our designs have always been effortless and unconventional, meant to highlight a bride’s individuality. This season, we personalized the experience with our brand even further by bringing real brides into our design process to try on and give feedback to the unfinished pieces. Each girl chose a different favourite, making us confident that there is a dress in this collection for every bride.
The 2018 collection maintains our rep for effortless wedding dress design with simple silhouettes that add interest and comfort in our unending attention to detail.
About Truvelle
Truvelle is an independent bridal line based in Vancouver, Canada. We’re about giving modern ladies alternative options to the traditional wedding gown. We create made-to-order dresses with a heavy emphasis on design, fit, and quality. With unconventional elements and a whole lot of effortlessness, our gowns are designed for the confident, easy-going bride. Because above all, a bride should feel as good as she looks.
A childhood spent in her mum’s custom dress shop, our founder, Gaby, started Truvelle after noticing brides were looking for something a little less expected. From a girl and a sewing machine, Truvelle now employs 25+ and operates in a 9000 sq ft studio space in the heart of Mount Pleasant. With all departments operating under the same roof, we maintain a small company vibe while proudly remaining Vancouver-based.
