The proposal
Rita & Hanford: Our trip to Paris was originally to celebrate Rita’s birthday and spend our Valentines together, after all what can be more special than to visit the City of Love during this time?
While we were searching up ideas and making plans for our week, we came up with this great idea to have a professional photoshoot so we can capture our precious moment in Paris. After searching around for local photographers, we found French Grey Photography and absolutely fell in love with Brian’s clean and elegant photography style. We decided to book the photoshoot on Rita’s birthday to make it extra memorable.
What Rita couldn’t have guessed was that her boyfriend (now fiancé) had planned to propose to her just the night before the shoot, at midnight, on top of the Eiffel Tower. So the next morning, still tingling with excitement from last night, it made the shoot an even more joyous occasion!
Thoughts from the couple
Rita & Hanford: We met Brian on a crisp Tuesday morning for the shoot. A thick fog blanketed the entire city. Despite the cold weather, we had a lot of fun shooting outside. Brian was very friendly and attentive to fulfill our wishes. He often gave us tips for poses that made everything flow smoothly and effortlessly.
We started in front of the Eiffel Tower, and made our way to Pont Alexandra III (Rita’s favourite Parisian bridge), and ended our shoot at Musée du Louvre. Honestly we couldn’t ask for a more perfect morning.
When the photos were ready a month later, it was as if we were taken back to Paris once again. Looking at our photos, we felt we couldn’t have made a better choice. The shoot was everything we imagined and more! Thank you so much for our wonderful experience Brian!
The effortlessly stylish look
Rita: When it comes to styling, we aimed for a timeless and classic feel. My white maxi dress is clean and simple, so I decided to minimize my accessories to highlight its elegance and simplicity.
One of my favourite unique pieces is my golden leaf bracelet made by Sarah Mulder, a local Vancouver jewellery designer. This statement piece really helps to set the classic theme of my outfit.
My makeup and hair was done by myself in the morning of the shoot. My fiancé also has impeccable sense of style. He complemented my outfit with a navy blue suit, a powder blue bow tie, and tan leather shoes. Together, I feel we had successfully created an effortless and beautiful wardrobe for the shoot!
Thoughts from the photographer
French Grey Photography: I like to start early…. my most iconic images are shot very very early, but hey that’s when the croissants are at their freshest and the city is at its most romantic and quiet! Rita & Hanford were one of those amazing couples that I love to spend my mornings with! Their 2 hour engagement session, in mid February, was a bit chilly and foggy, but as we made our way through some iconic Parisian landmarks we benefited from the serenity and quite atmosphere to capture the following images.
About French Grey Photography
Brian of French Grey Photography: My photography of my mainly international clientele is sought after in Paris, where I like to call the Trocadero “my office”! I love to work with the early morning light to capture soft and romantic photographs of my couples as they relax in front of my camera in the most romantic city in the world. I am Brian Wright, the South African born artist-photographer and owner of French Grey Photography.
Telling the story of my clients’ Parisian wedding/elopement or romantic engagement session with my fine art photography is what makes me happy, and I am fortunate enough to be doing this in Paris for 5 years now. I love to explore the city with my couples and to focus on their love story and their emotions with the historical architectural elements of Paris as my backdrop.
I direct my clients gently in my native English, to achieve the best results for their photography investment with me.
