With restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the desire to enhance intimacy and reduce wedding costs have increased as more couples opt for celebrations with smaller guest lists. The rise of the small wedding trend offers 3 popular options: elopement, minimony, and micro wedding.
An elopement is traditionally a spur-of-the-moment event involving some secrecy (although elopements nowadays are becoming much more planned). The idea is to have a celebration with just the two of you; therefore, an elopement can include just the couple, officiant and/or a witness.
A minimony is a newly-coined term for the COVID alternative wedding, meaning ceremonies taking place in lieu of or in addition to your formal celebration.
A micro-wedding is usually planned like a traditional wedding, just with fewer people invited (less than 50 guests). It will still include time-honored traditions but on a much smaller scale. Couples can also combine an elopement and a reception to create a micro wedding.
Whether you’re looking for small wedding inspiration or just something to make your heart flutter, here are some beautiful ideas we absolutely love. Get inspired and let your creativity run wild to plan your own intimate celebration.
