For one of BHLDN‘s recent collection photoshoot, they headed to the Bonneville Salt Flats with fashion blogger Officially Quigley and sought-after wedding photographer India Earl. These talented ladies teamed up to reveal the beauty and modern elegance of BHLDN’s wedding dresses and accessories. Quigley and her husband seriously define the meaning of couple goals! Tell us a little bit about your backgrounds?
India: I’m a 22-year-old worldwide destination wedding and elopement photographer based in the mountains of Utah. I’ve been shooting since I was 14 when I got a camera for Christmas. I’m self-taught and learned by shooting self-portraits (aka running back and forth with a 10-second timer in my backyard, haha). I started shooting weddings when I was 16, and instantly fell in love. I went to college for 2.5 years and then dropped out to pursue photography full time. My business took off, and I’ve been a full-time photographer ever since!
Quigley: I’m a fashion and travel blogger based in Los Angeles, California. I’m originally from Eden Prairie, Minnesota and moved to LA in 2011 to pursue music. (Fun fact: I was on American Idol Season 8!) I’ve always loved fashion, so I began to shoot my outfits and post them on Instagram. I didn’t intend to become a blogger—it happened organically! I feel so lucky that I get to be creative and play dress-up for a living!
What was your wedding like? Do you have any tips for brides-to-be?
Quigley: I really wanted an intimate destination wedding with a small group and a crazy cool photoshoot, and Alex really wanted a huge party for our friends and family. We decided, why not have it all? We had a small ceremony in my mom’s backyard for our immediate family and so that my grandparents could be there, a destination shoot in Arizona, and a huge backyard blowout in Alex’s mom’s backyard. It was a whole summer of festivities!
My advice for brides-to-be is that there’s no wrong or right way to celebrate! Follow your heart and make up the rules as you plan.
What was the best part about shooting together?
Quigley: India just makes me smile! She is so full of life and energy on set! I can’t wait to shoot with her again in the future. We had such an amazing team, and I was blown away by the location. The Bonneville Salt Flats are UNREAL! It felt like we were on another planet. Such an incredible day!
India: Seeing all the talented creative women come together to create freely, but with so much intent. There’s nothing more inspiring to me than seeing people do things they’re passionate about, so it was really fun to see each one of us light up as the shoot went on, as the light changed, as the looks came together with the location, while laughing the entire time out in the desert together. It’s always an honor to work on projects with other talented creatives like Officially Quigley and Nicolette, the makeup artist.
