Love story
It all started out with Jeslin’s elegant Qipao (traditional Chinese dress) costume on a night at work. Hanz took notice right away and it was the first time they had a conversation.
Fast forward a few months after Jeslin returned from a long vacation in her homeland, Indonesia. Hanz noticed that Jeslin took the train home from work every night and decided to offer her a ride one night. The spark ignited at that point as Hanz drove Jeslin home whenever an opportunity present itself thereafter.
The relationship blossomed to the point that Jeslin placed her love for Hanz ahead of returning to Indonesia to be with her family. Jeslin found work in her field in biology and was able to stay in Canada. Hanz worked through the ranks at Cineplex in hopes of securing the job security, salary and scheduling-control so that he can take his beloved Jeslin as his wife and eventually, to start a family.
Their interpersonal relationship is at its best when Jeslin and Hanz endlessly mock, tease and make fun of each other. Jeslin and Hanz share their love for video games, movies, music and shows while attempting to explore other pleasures of life. Anybody who knows them will be immediately aware that they are so at ease with each other and genuinely in love with each other for who they are – where true happiness resides.
Inspiration behind the shoot
From the photographer (Kunioo): We wanted to do something epic, something that no one has seen before; something that would take people’s breathe away! Lighting the whole photo session with candles romantically outdoor with silk and drapes coming down was the answer.
Thoughts from the photographer
Kunioo: Jeslin brought up the idea of shooting at night with sparklers, which then evolved into an evening shoot lit purely with candles in jars and string lights. We collaborated with Past Pieces to complete our vision as they spent many hours decorating the set while we photographed around the garden and beach.
There is something so magical about candles. We become smitten with the dream-like aura it emanates, bringing us to a romanticized state of being. So what other way could be more perfect to capture Jeslin and Hanz’s romantic pre-wedding photo shoot?
We were blessed to capture this beautiful and loving couple’s promise of forever. Shot after shot, only pure happiness and endless love shine from their faces. We don’t get the opportunity to shoot in the evening very often, so we were overwhelmed with inspiration that night. Even now, we are in awe of these beautiful encapsulated memories.
