Love at first sight
From the Bride (Lyndsey): Kris and I were together for 6 years before he proposed. We met at a lounge on Whyte Ave on a night out with friends. I remember us locking eyes, and immediately we felt a connection- one could say it was love at first sight!
A Fairy Tale-Like Proposal
Lyndsey: Kris had planned a surprise trip for me, and did not give any clues as to where he was taking me. When we landed I seen the beautiful ocean and discovered it was beautiful Victoria, BC. Victoria was a special place to Kris, as he completed his first year of university there. The engagement all started on a horse drawn carriage ride as we headed for an Italian dinner (our favorite). He planned a surprise stop in the beautiful Beacon Hill Park. We went for a romantic walk, and before I knew it he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was such a special time and memory that I will always cherish.
Planning Priorities
From the Couple (Lyndsey & Kris): It was very important for us to have all of our friends and family together to celebrate the most important day of our lives- the time when we begin the rest of our lives dedicated to loving each other.
We wanted our celebration to take place that allowed for a luscious garden where the cocktails would be served, and yet also offer a glamorous aura for the remainder of the evening. We fell in love with the Oasis Centre, as it was all this and more!
Wedding design and details
Wedding theme: luxurious elegance
Approximate number of guests: 225
Favorite wedding detail: the flowers! Nathan with Graham and Lane Florists absolutely blew us away with the floral details from the head table to the cake. I remember walking into the reception and feeling as though I was in heaven – it was perfect!
Remarkable special detail: the bride, maid of honor, and bridesmaids all wore Vera Wang wedding dresses – I wanted them to feel as amazing as I do for this special celebration!
Favorite moments from the wedding day
Lyndsey: Walking down the aisle and seeing Kris, as well as our family and friends who had travelled from all over to witness the joining of our new lives together. It was a feeling of pure joy and we could definitely feel the overwhelming love!
From the Groom (Kris): The anticipation of being introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Ricci, and then walking through the grand entrance to all of our family and friends is a moment I will always cherish. There was so much energy and happiness filled in that grand room, my heart was pounding. I then gave my beautiful bride a nice spin before we took our seats at the head table, which I loved every second of.
Advice to couples planning their wedding
Lyndsey & Kris: Always remember that this day is a celebration of the both of you uniting and becoming one. Once your special day finally comes, it flashes by, and you realize all that really matters is the love you share.
About Lucier Photography
From the photographer (Danielle): I first picked up a camera in college. At the time, I was studying journalism, and we were told to take the school’s cameras out around campus to get a feel of them. I still remember that day; it was fall and the air was crisp with a wonderful breeze. I stumbled upon these beautiful rolling hills with a tiny stream running through. It was then I realize a camera allowed me to capture beauty the way I saw and felt it, and I still shoot according to the way I feel in the moment. Since the lens allows me to get in close, I often get to experience beauty and love at such a heightened level.
I have an interesting blend of styles. I definitely have a natural photo journalistic approach to my photographs, but since I tend to work a lot with models, I’ve found I also have a fashion/editorial style – and then, of course, my editing seems to lean to a creamy vintage feel. So it seems to be an even blend of non-related styles that work.
I seem to get questioned a lot on being a photographer and whether or not photography is important. I think that so much emotion can be evoked through one photograph. Memories can be so fleeting and it’s important to be able to savour the moments that matter. To be able to capture moments and time and share them through generations is such an amazing gift that often times people take for granted.
