Picking the Venue
From the Bride, Sharminie: We both wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but I wanted to have a garden themed wedding in particular because my grandfather was an avid gardener. After months of searching for a venue, Arosha and I fell in love with Margaret River’s Secret Garden for its elegance and natural beauty.
Arosha and I chose to get married in Margaret River as we have spent a lot of our lives studying and working in the city. Having our wedding in the South West allowed us to enjoy some time out from our normal lives and provided the most beautiful setting for our wedding.
Wedding Design Details
Sharminie: We chose lilac and silver as our wedding colors as they were soft and complemented the colors in the garden. We worked these colors and the garden theme into our wedding stationery, bridal party outfits and reception styling. Miriam Avery from Chic Rustique played a huge part in making our vision come to life as she created all the floral arrangements and styled both venues on the day.
Advice to couples planning their day
Sharminie: Spend some time thinking about the moments in your relationship which hold a special meaning for you both. Think of a particular song, place, poem, flower or even food that reflects those moments and incorporate them into things like the wedding favors, ceremony, music or decorations. These decisions may not be the biggest ones you have to make, but they will make your wedding a true reflection and celebration of your relationship.
Most Memorable Moment
Sharminie: The most memorable moment of the day was when I was walking down the aisle with my husband at the end of the Wedding Ceremony. I was overwhelmed with joy and seeing all the faces of our closest friends and family as they showered us with rose petals just added to the magic of that moment.
Thoughts from the Photographer
Ben Yew Photography: When Sharminie first informed me that her wedding will be at the Secret Garden, I was already looking forward to their wedding. I have shot a wedding at the secret garden a few times and still loving it. Love the colors of the gardens, flowers and everything around it. The trees alongside of the aisle was simply stunning; the venue was just made for weddings, and everything was planned for a reason. As the name “Secret Garden” indicates, it is not open to the public, this means you will not see tourists walking around photobombing.
The reception venue at Aravina Estate is just pure elegance, the amazing high ceiling with large chandelier makes the guest feel comfortable with the space. I can spend the whole day there just photographing the bridal sessions, there are so many awesome spots for good photos.
Sharminie & Arosha was so easy to work with, they were so relaxed and happy throughout the day. Shariminie’s brother was so nervous about walking down the aisle, asking around for the right way to walk with her, it just showed how much he loves his sister and takes this so seriously.
I love everything about this wedding from the details, to the stunning venue and to top it off with the most amazing and friendly couple!
