As gorgeous as it is heartwarming, Alice and Jun’s rustic outdoor wedding has some of the most beautiful organic touches. It is the kind of celebration where the couple puts an emphasis on the personal, like a sweet color mixture of vibrant yellow and elegant lavender, and an invitation suite crafted by the Bride herself. Add in one emotional moment after another captured by Allen Fu Photography, pure unadulterated perfection is what to expect! Join us as we share Alice & Jun’s wedding story below with great tips and inspiration from their wedding planning experience!
The Love Story
From the Bride, Alice: Jun was three years above me when we first met in college, but we weren’t close until we both went to the East Coast to pursue our Master’s degree in 2008.
I took a trip to Boston where he hosted me and my friends for couple of days, then we went to New York together. During this trip our feelings for each other grew stronger, and we started our 6 years of long-distance relationship.
The Proposal
From the Groom, Jun: It was in our 5th year of distance relationship, i had a feeling that our relationship is not going anywhere unless one of us takes a step further and make a change. So I decided to pop the question during our trip to Spain.
The first challenge i encountered was how to prevent Alice from digging through my luggage and accidentally find the ring. I made our itinerary into a nice little booklet and it was meant to be found to satisfy her curiosity, so she wouldn’t dig deeper. And I prepared a great place to hide the ring: in the laundry bag with my rolls of socks!
I did my proposal at a hilltop church with the view overlooking the entire Barcelona in the dusk. To be honest, my mind was pretty much blank during the proposal, so I don’t remember the details. But the most important thing is… she said YES!
The First Look
Alice: Our photographer, Allen Fu, picked a great spot to shoot our first look. With the shadow of tree canopy casting on the brick wall, Jun waited at the corner. I could almost feel his heart beat even when I was steps away.
When he reached out his hand for me I felt shy and it almost felt like we were back to 17 again. We held hands for a while before he finally turned around, that’s the expression I would never forget. He was astonished and couldn’t say a word, but kept on staring at me, and I smiled back.
Jun: I did not join Alice when she went test fit her wedding dresses. It was all to save the very moment for our special day. When Alice held my hand, before I turned around, all the anticipation and excitement, the moment was beyond words. Alice looked absolutely gorgeous and i was totally speechless!
Best Wedding Moments
Alice & Jun: We wrote our own vows, which had no fancy words but only true feelings for each other. Hearing it for the first time was the best moment for both of us! We are also grateful to have our best friends as our groomsmen and bridesmaids. It was truly touching when they all went on stage and sang “Happy” for us.
Wedding Planning Process
Alice: Both of us are architects and we wanted a chic, unconventional, and intimate wedding. Picking the venue wasn’t hard, Pasture Yen was love at first sight, regardless of its remote location and the extra efforts to bringing our guests there.
Alice: Then we spent a lot of time looking into the main theme and the design of every detail to make sure everything comes together nicely. During the communication process with our vendors and photographer, we prepared PDFs that included reference images and diagrams to show our thoughts through visual material to ensure there’s no communication gap. Everything turned out exactly like what we wanted thanks to everyone’s effort (including strictly followed dress code!)
Thoughts from the photographer
Allen Fu: This was a beautiful outdoor wedding in the city of Taichung. Jun and Alice was full of ideas about their wedding and I felt honored and lucky to have been there with them. The day was full of sunshine, flowers, laughter and joy, just the way a wedding is supposed to be! Best wishes to you two, Jun and Alice!
