Amy & Tim’s rustic Vancouver wedding is what happens when romance, creativity, and all kinds of whimsy combine. Weddings are all about the moments and the little details that make the day truly “yours”, and this is why we absolutely love this couple who decided to keep their day simple and personal. The true emotions expressed through the beautiful images captured by Lyndsay Cotterall of Well, Hello Photography are totally infectious. Join us as we share Amy & Tim’s lovely wedding story below.
The love story
Amy & Tim: We met in a soccer league fundraising event that took place in a sports bar because Tim was playing on the soccer league with a teammate who was also Amy’s friend. That mutual friend invited Amy to the fundraising event and that’s how she met Tim.
While dating, we had many conversations about what we wanted out of our relationship, and where we saw it headed. Through these conversations, we realized that we shared a lot of common values and that we both saw things headed in the same direction, so we decided to get married.
Proposal story
Amy & Tim: It was our first year anniversary and we spent a weekend in Whistler. When we headed back to our hotel room after dinner, champagne, a bouquet of roses, and rose petals were waiting and Tim made a heartfelt proposal.
Priorities
Amy & Tim: We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding ceremony that was intimate and simple. One of the top priorities was also to have our guests enjoy our wedding.
Advice for other couples
Amy & Tim: Setup a list of activities and timeline as early as possible and stick to completing all tasks at least a few days before the wedding. When it comes to a few days before the wedding, just focus on de-stressing (especially brides). On the wedding day, enjoy every moment as the day will go by very quickly. Hiring a wedding coordinator for the day of to make sure everything is being managed so the couples only have to focus on enjoying their day.
Wedding design information
Wedding theme: simple elegance, highlighting the nature beauty of the venue.
Number of guests: approximately 130
Budget: Slightly above $30K
Best wedding moment: When the guests all cheered when Tim said in his vows – that he promise to cook and clean for Amy.
Favorite wedding details: wedding favor (jar of honey) which we designed and packaged by hand. Another favorite detail was the cupcakes tower, which looked beautiful and was a big favourite for all our guests – one of the most photographed details of our wedding by our guests.
Something special & personal
Amy & Tim: We wrote our own vows to each other and heard for the first time during the ceremony which was very touching and emotional for both of us. In keeping with the simple and intimate theme, we did not have a wedding party (no maid of honour/bridemaids or best man/groomsmen) which made our wedding pictures and the ceremony just about the two of us. For Tim, the fact that so many members of his family travelled from Singapore to attend the wedding made it feel very intimate.
Heart for the guests
Amy & Tim: Since we wanted our guests (including family and friends) to also enjoy their time attending our wedding, we engaged vendors to do all coordination and setup on the day of so we won’t have to enlist the help of our friends and family.
We also chose to do our first-look wedding photos before our ceremony to allow our guests to flow right into reception after the ceremony without having them to wait too long.
Thoughts from the photographer
Lyndsay Cotterall of Well, Hello Photography: Amy & Tim’s wedding was bursting at the seems with joy and love. Amy & Tim have humongous hearts and it was an absolute honour to be invited to photograph their love. The wedding was on a wet September afternoon. While we started out with a lot of rain, by the time of the ceremony, the sun actually found it’s way to us. I loved the fresh colours and details that Amy & Tim picked out – they stayed true to their own preferences when it came to decor and that made this wedding truley THEM.
