Romantic, intimate, only for you. We are not talking relationships; we are talking style – the unique style Kathryn Bass, designer of Pure Something, offers to be exact.
Kathryn’s passion for fashion design was first inspired by sewing memories with her grandmother at a young age, which eventually took her to complete two Fashion Design programs in Vancouver and Montreal. With an eager mind set on opening her own business, she started out by making custom clothing. Her love for dresses and the clients she encountered naturally led her to the bridal industry, and she’s definitely not disappointed! “I love being given the opportunity to be involved in making a bride feel beautiful on her special day”, says the passionate designer.
Kathryn believes every bride deserves full attention and personal service. To ensure intimate relationship with each client, her studio takes only one appointment at a time. Brides are also welcome to bring friends and family. The consultation and communication process is designed to be very personal, allowing the bride to be involved with each and every step of creating her gown. For a bride who wants to customize her dream dress, she gets to have input along the way and to experience her gown coming to be, rather than simply choosing something off the rack. Many brides have ideas about what they like or dislike, but don’t have a full picture in mind. Kathryn completes their dream by taking all of the bits and pieces they want to incorporate and design a dress that is best for them. As she shares: “We’ve worked with so many amazing clients: mothers-to-be, daughters restyling their mother’s gowns and others who have special elements they want to include in their dress”, we can see how she treats each client as a special VIP and appreciates the different personalities she encounters, and that’s the motivation behind her love for the job.
Pure Something offers the first consultation free of charge. The studio is definitely worth visiting, but for out of town clients, Kathryn also offers phone/email consultations. Dresses can be shipped if a bride is unable to attent fittings at the studio. Come visit the studio in downtown Vancouver! Special thanks to Kathryn for a wonderful interview with us.
