Weddings are filled with countless beautiful elements. Many of these elements can be achieved through planning and creativity, but we truly believe that the most precious form of beauty comes from something within, something deeper shaped by love and joy. Joel and Emerald‘s wedding we are about to share today certainly demonstrates this true beauty.
When we received Joel & Emerald’s wedding photos from Taiwan based photographer Johnny Ouyang, we were touched by the emotions illustrated through these wonderful memories. Johnny’s journey as a photographer first started in New Zealand during his mentor’s honeymoon trip. Since then Johnny took every case as a learning opportunity to improve his vision and skills. His neat and natural style is well demonstrated through Joel & Emerald’s wedding photo collection.
Joel & Emerald’s story is lovely and sweet. Together they’ve built a strong relationship and overcomed cultural differences. Get ready to enjoy their beautiful wedding scenes and learn about their unique story shared below.
When Joel meets Emerald:
I’ve been living in Taipei for about 3 years and was fed up with dating. After a trip back to Canada for Christmas, I returned to work and met a beautiful woman they had hired while I was away. As Emerald and I got to know each other, I was tempted to ask her out, but was nervous about a workplace relationship. Eventually, I decided that she was worth the risk. I asked her out several times, and her answer was always “maybe”. I persisted for a while, but finally thought that perhaps she was just too polite to say “no” so I let the matter drop. Giving up was the best decision of my life – a week later she asked me out.

Their lovely relationship:
Joel: After several dates I asked Emerald if I could give her a kiss goodnight. She offered me her cheek. On our next date I asked if I could kiss the other one. Our relationship progressed slowly but it was very sweet.
How did Joel Propose?
Five and a half years of wonderful times later, I decided to propose in front of a waterfall with a short train ride and hike outside of Taipei. I was determined to stick to my plan, rain or shine. Rain it was; and the muddy hiking trail it created. I had asked a few close friends to come along to allay any suspicions on Emerald’s part, and everyone dutifully trudged through the muck. It wasn’t exactly the proposal I had envisioned, but it was definitely memorable.
Thoughts about the wedding day:
A year and a half later, we were married. All the hard work and planning was worth it. Our wedding day couldn’t have been better. We were surrounded by family and friends and filled with joy and love. The happiness continues.
