Many brides want their wedding to have a vintage feel with a creative twist by pulling elements from an era that compliment their style. Today’s bridal styled shoot exemplifies this romantic and timeless style. Set in the breathtaking Niagara Region in Ontario with real vintage materials paired with modern trends, this styled shoot captured by Simply Lace Photography is both classic and magical. Talented vendors poured their heart and soul into this project, and you will be amazed by their effort and creativity found in all the gorgeous details below.
Inspiration behind the shoot
Simply Lace Photography: This photo shoot was set in the breathtaking Niagara Region in Ontario, amid the beautiful peach blossom orchards that come to life for only a short, fleeting time each year.
The inspiration for this styled shoot came to me during the long winter months that we had this past year. I craved the sunshine, fresh flowers, happiness, romance, lace and soft tones of spring. I wanted to capture the reawakening of the pastel pinks, blues and greens of spring, as they emerged from the winter greys.
Challenging weather cycle
Simply Lace Photography: This year, the peach blossoms proved to be elusive and never really came into full bloom. As we anxiously waited nearly a month for the first blossoms to bloom, we had to work hard to adapt and prepare every vendor to be ready to go at a moment’s notice, while not having a set date.
During the photo-shoot, we had high winds, rain, beating hot sun, a surprise field mower, and more sprinkles during the shoot…but the team of professionals somehow managed to pull it off. We still laugh at the weather cycles in one day!
But the challenge was so worth it! I’m so happy with the romantic and soft feel of this styled shoot. I have a love for all things pretty, dreamy, airy and magical – I am a total romantic and I think the shoot captures all of those! I also hope it will inspire brides and show that something simple and soft is easy to create when it’s set in a beautiful peach orchard during those magical spring days.
Romantic dessert table design
Simply Lace Photography: We started with a French, antique, ivory vanity with a beautiful leg line for the sweets table. Atop, we placed a rustic-elegant, extra tall gold pedestal vintage cake stand, long stemmed glass compotes from the 1800s, and pattern glass Victorian cake stands from an era of quality so often lost by reproductions.
We kept the components simple to let nature shine. We added beautifully themed sweets like the cookie sandwich cakes with an oversized, pom-pom flower on top. The feature cake was kept very simple, but it carried flowing peach blooms at top cascading down the first tier. A gold- rimmed 1920s cake stands continued the gold theme across the table and showcased ‘ruffles and roses’ cupcakes.
Elegant dining table setup
Simply Lace Photography: For the antique dining table, vintage English china in mix & match pairings were nested amoung romantic, oversized flowers with gold-dusted eucalyptus and soft, pink roses… all styled in a 100-year-old pattern glass vase. The oversize scale of the leafy floral, chair backs, and bridal bouquet brought the nice contrast of modern trend with antique richness.
A pink accent table with 1920s vintage champagne glasses was contrasted with black and white modern straws, and hints of blossoms peeking into the set.
Real vintage + modern trends
Simply Lace Photography: I’m absolutely in love with all the details in this styled shoot, especially because of all the real vintage pieces we used. You can always feel the difference real vintage brings to a styled vignette. And when you pair it with modern trends, magic happens!
Other details
Simply Lace Photography: The bride (model) was again, the mixture of modern-vintage romance wearing an on-trend floral crown, vintage lace dress and carrying a flowing, cascade bouquet.
Wedding rings were featured on a small, French gold ornate mirror tray reflecting the trees in the mirror. Glittery gold paper pennants and sweets labels sparkled on the windy day with just a soft touch of pink blossoms in the paper decor; these details were the finishing touch.
